Architects' Office in Cologne
This building was erected in 1910, on the site of an 15th century house, as offices and a warehouse. It was the only building in the block to survive World War Two. The hewn stone façade of red sandstone is quietly ornamental and complements the nearby 'Overstolzenhaus'. In converting the property for use as architects' offices, particular attention was paid to a harmonious linking of old and new. New design ideas have been carefully mixed with valuable building heritage, in such a way that the different construction phases can be clearly identified. It is this interesting admixture which characterises the new offices.
