Autopolis Art Museum, Japan

The difficult terrain at the site of the Autopolis Art Museum influenced the form of the building and led to many units being prefabricated. Entrance to the museum is via a covered walkway open to one side; this, too, can be used as exhibition space or for watching car races on the track below. A centrally placed entrance hall links the exhibition areas. A timber roof finely trussed with steel covers both building tracts, creating a unified structure. The copper roofing had been pre-patinated with calcium sulphate.
