View the project →Dorte Mandrup is known for her idealism and an unmistakable sense of humour. Her ambitious building for the Crafts College in Herning, Denmark, promotes education and craftsmanship. The Copenhagen studio received an award at the 2025 Holcim Foundation Awards. Following the award ceremony in Venice, we spoke about concrete spaces, the freedom of hand-drawn sketches - and why sailing and architecture speak the same language.

Until 50 years ago the site in the old town of Reutlingen was occupied by the corner house of a 13th century row of half-timbered structures. Wulf Architekten retraced its outline with a diaphanous volume. Its homogeneous facade consisting of flat glass shingles refracts the view of the timber space frame structure.
<p>Born in Beijing in 1975, he grew up in a hutong near Nanluoguxiang. He creates icons that speak for themselves - most recently the Fenix Museum in Rotterdam in 2025, followed by the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles in September 2026.</p>
<p>Despite her success, the Paris-based architect, who grew up in Beirut, maintains a clear, critical view of the world and of architecture today. </p>
